Aetris Privacy Policy
This policy explains what happens to personal data in the Aetris app for iPhone and Android and on the aetris.app website. It replaces every earlier version, including the "Privacy Policy" text shown inside older versions of the app (dated February 12, 2026).
The short version
- We keep what you give us so the app can read your pet's stars: your account, your pets, your nightly answers and notes, and your questions to Vela.
- Some texts in the app are written by Anthropic's AI (Claude). We send it only what that text needs, never your email address or account ID, and Anthropic does not use it to train its models.
- We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and we don't track you across apps or websites of other companies.
- You can export your data, switch off usage analytics and delete your account in Settings at any time.
1. Who is responsible for your data
Aetris is built and published by one person based in Poland, who is the controller of your personal data. In this policy we call the controller Aetris Admin ("we", "us"). The developer (trader) details shown on the Aetris page in the App Store and on Google Play are those of the controller.
- Privacy questions and requests: privacy@aetris.app
- Everything else: support@aetris.app, or Settings > Contact support in the app
We have not appointed a data protection officer; the law does not require one for a service of this kind.
2. What we collect, why, and on what legal basis
We rely on these legal bases from Article 6(1) of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
- Contract (Art. 6(1)(b)): to provide the app you signed up for and the features you use.
- Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)): to keep the service secure, prevent abuse, fix crashes and errors, understand how the app is used so we can improve it, answer your messages and defend legal claims. You can object to this (section 10).
- Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)): only where we ask for it. You can withdraw it at any time; this does not affect what happened before.
- Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)): for example tax and accounting records, or a lawful request from an authority.
2.1 Your account
- Email address, a randomly generated account ID, how you sign in, and when you signed up and last signed in.
- If you use a password, our sign-in provider stores only a secure hash of it. We never see your password.
- If you continue with Google, Google sends us your email address, name, profile picture link and a Google account identifier.
- If you continue with Apple, Apple sends us your email address (or an Apple private relay address, if you choose to hide yours) and an Apple account identifier.
Why: to create your account, sign you in, keep it secure and send you account emails such as a password reset code. Basis: contract.
2.2 Your own profile (optional)
- Your first name and date of birth.
- Optionally, your time of birth and city of birth. You pick the city from a list built into the app; we store the city's name, country, coordinates and time zone. This is the city where you were born, not your current location.
- The signs and chart positions calculated from these details, and the text of your Birth Chart reading.
Why: your horoscope, Birth Chart, Lunar Insights, Daily Harmony and Star Beast. Without it, these features stay closed. Basis: contract.
2.3 Your pets
- Name, species, breed, sex and, if you add it, date of birth.
- A photo, if you add one (see section 5).
- Your answers to the Soul Reading questions, the Sun, Moon and Rising signs calculated from them, and the profile and Lineage texts written for your pet.
Why: to build and show your pet's chart and readings. Basis: contract.
2.4 What you record in the app
- Your nightly answers about your pet (their state and how strong it was), the date and time, and any notes you write.
- The stars' sealed guess for that night and whether it matched your answer, Clarity, streaks, cosmic dust, oracle cards, Star Beast sightings and Sanctuary items.
- Best Days plans and your "How did it go?" answers, and your Compatibility deck.
Why: these are the app's features; we keep them on your account so they survive a new phone and appear on each device you sign in on. Basis: contract.
2.5 Ask Vela
- Your questions, Vela's answers, the date, and whether a question counted toward the daily limit.
Why: to answer you, show your history and apply the daily limit. Basis: contract.
2.6 Lantern purchases
- Your plan (weekly, monthly or lifetime), whether you are in a free trial, renewal and expiry dates, and store transaction and product identifiers. These reach us through RevenueCat, linked to your account ID.
- We never see your card or other payment details. Apple or Google takes the payment.
Why: to open Lantern on every device where you sign in and to restore purchases. Basis: contract; records we must keep for tax purposes: legal obligation.
2.7 Referrals and gifts
- Your referral code. It is made from your first pet's name (for example, LUNA-7F3C).
- Whose code a new account entered, when, whether the reward was given, and the dates of each step.
- If we give you Lantern as a gift: its length, the note, the sender ("The Aetris Team") and when you opened it.
Why: to run the referral program and gifts and to prevent abuse. Basis: contract (the program rules in our Terms) and legitimate interests (preventing abuse).
2.8 Messages you send us
- Emails to support@aetris.app or privacy@aetris.app, and messages sent through The Celestial Echo feedback screen.
Why: to answer you and improve the app. Basis: legitimate interests, or contract when it concerns your account.
2.9 Technical data
On our server and at our database provider. Your IP address, the time of each request, your phone's local date and time-zone offset, and the app version. The local date lets the app count "today" in your own time; the time-zone offset lets Vela name the right evenings. Why: security, rate limits that stop abuse, and fixing errors. Basis: legitimate interests.
Usage analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase). Which screens and features are used, events such as starting a free trial, app version, device model and operating system, an approximate location (country or city) that Google derives from the IP address, a random app-instance identifier, and, if you came from an aetris.app link, the campaign tag passed on by Google Play. On Android, Firebase may also read the phone's advertising ID; we don't use it for advertising. We do not send your account ID, email or name to Firebase, so analytics are not tied to your account. Why: to understand which parts of the app help people and which don't, so we know what to fix. Basis: legitimate interests. You can switch analytics off at any time in Settings > Privacy & data > Usage analytics.
Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics). Details of crashes and errors, device model, operating system, app version and a random installation identifier. Not tied to your account. Basis: legitimate interests.
2.10 What stays on your phone
Your sign-in session (in the phone's secure storage), settings, reminders, unfinished drafts and copies of some data for offline use stay on your phone. Reminders are local notifications planned by your phone; we do not run a push notification server. This data is removed when you uninstall the app or clear its data.
2.11 What we don't collect
We don't collect your precise location, contacts, camera or microphone. The app reads only the photo you choose for your pet.
3. AI: how readings are made
- Calculated, not generated. Signs, chart positions, Moon phases, calendars and the Daily Harmony score are calculated by the app and our server. Many texts come from our own templates.
- Written by AI. Some texts are written by Anthropic's Claude through the paid Claude API: your pet's profile text after the Soul Reading, the Lineage chronicle, the Birth Chart story, daily horoscope paragraphs, Lunar Insights, oracle card meanings, the stars' nightly sealed guess, Weekly Alchemy, Compatibility paragraphs, the "Check our bond" reading and Vela's answers.
- What we send to Claude: only what that text needs, for example your pet's name, species, breed and sex, their signs and Soul Reading answers, the states you logged, your notes from recent days (Weekly Alchemy: the last 7 days; Ask Vela: up to two recent notes, shortened), your question to Vela, your sign, and the positions in your birth chart (not your date or place of birth).
- What we never send to Claude: your email address, account ID, password, photos, payment details or IP address.
- How Anthropic handles it: Anthropic processes this data for us under its commercial terms and data processing addendum for the Claude API. Anthropic states that it does not train its models on API prompts or answers, and that it keeps them for a limited period, longer only where needed to enforce its usage policies or meet legal requirements. Processing takes place outside the EEA, mainly in the United States (see section 6).
- Please keep it about your pet. Don't write sensitive personal information about yourself or other people (for example health, religion or political views) in notes or questions.
- Health questions: when a question to Vela looks like a health question, it is not sent to the AI, and Vela answers with a fixed message that sends you to your vet.
- AI text can be wrong. Readings are for entertainment and are not veterinary, medical or behavioural advice.
- Versions of the app released before October 15, 2026 may also send your first name, date and city of birth to write the Birth Chart reading.
4. Who receives your data
We use the following providers. Each processes data only on our instructions, under data processing terms that require at least the same level of protection as this policy.
| Provider | What for | What data | Where |
|---|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, sign-in, pet photo storage | Everything in sections 2.1 to 2.8 | European Union (Ireland) |
| Google Cloud (Cloud Run) | Our server | Data passing through requests; server logs including IP address | Warsaw, Poland |
| Anthropic (Claude API) | Writing some texts | As listed in section 3 | United States |
| Google (Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics) | Usage analytics, crash reports | As listed in section 2.9 | United States and other countries |
| RevenueCat | Managing Lantern purchases | Account ID, purchase and subscription data, device platform and app version | United States |
| Loops | Sending account emails (for example a password reset code), and the emails you asked for in a form on aetris.app | Email address, the form you used and the content of those emails | United States |
| Our email hosting provider | Receiving and answering your emails | Your emails and our replies | May be outside the EEA (section 6) |
Independent companies with their own privacy policies:
- Apple and Google as app stores: they handle payments, refunds, subscriptions and the purchase records you see in your store account.
- Google Sign-In and Sign in with Apple, when you use them to sign in.
Other Aetris users. If you invite a friend with your code, or use a friend's code, the other person sees your first pet's name and the steps of the referral (for example "joined" or "received a gift"). Nothing else in your account is visible to other users. Things you share yourself (for example a card through your phone's share sheet) go where you send them.
Authorities. We disclose data when the law requires it.
We don't sell your data, show ads, or track you across apps and websites of other companies.
5. Pet photos
Pet photos are stored so that the app can show them quickly. Anyone who has the exact link to a photo can open it, but the link is long and random, and the list of photos is not public or searchable anywhere. Photos are not sent to the AI. A photo is deleted when you replace it, delete the pet or delete your account. Please don't upload photos that show people, documents or anything else you want to keep private.
6. Transfers outside the European Economic Area
Some providers in section 4 process data outside the EEA, mainly in the United States. We rely on:
- the European Commission's adequacy decision for the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, for providers certified under it, such as Google; and
- the Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, included in the providers' data processing terms, for the others.
You can ask us for a copy of the relevant safeguards at privacy@aetris.app.
7. How long we keep data
| Data | How long |
|---|---|
| Account, your profile, pets, logs and notes, readings, Ask Vela history, plans, cards, referral and gift records, feedback messages | Until you delete them or your account |
| A pet photo | Until you replace it, delete the pet or delete your account |
| AI texts written for you and stored for a short time (for example tonight's sealed guess or Weekly Alchemy) | 1 to 7 days, then deleted automatically; always deleted with your account |
| AI texts shared by everyone with the same signs (no personal data) | Up to 90 days, then deleted automatically |
| Server logs (IP address, requests) | About 30 days |
| Technical logs and backups at Supabase | A short period set by Supabase |
| Claude prompts and answers at Anthropic | A limited period set by Anthropic, for abuse monitoring and legal requirements |
| Usage analytics (Firebase) | Up to 14 months |
| Crash reports (Crashlytics) | About 90 days |
| Purchase data at RevenueCat | Until you delete your account |
| Account emails at Loops | A limited period set by Loops |
| An email address you left in a form on aetris.app | Until you unsubscribe or that form's purpose is fulfilled; after you unsubscribe, only on a do-not-email list |
| Emails you send to us | Up to 24 months after the conversation ends |
| Records we must keep by law (for example tax records) | As long as the law requires, generally 5 years after the end of the tax year |
8. Deleting your account
In the app: Settings > Delete account. Hold the button for 1.5 seconds. Deletion starts at once.
Without the app: email privacy@aetris.app from the email address of your account and ask us to delete it. We will confirm and delete it within 30 days.
What is deleted: your account and sign-in details, your profile and Birth Chart, all your pets with their charts, photos, logs, notes, readings, Ask Vela history and plans, your cards, cosmic dust and Sanctuary items, your referral code and referral records, gifts, feedback messages, AI texts stored for you, and your purchase history at RevenueCat. If you later restore purchases with the same App Store or Google Play account, RevenueCat rebuilds that history from the store.
What deleting the account does not do, and what remains:
- It does not cancel a subscription. Lantern is billed by Apple or Google. Cancel it in your App Store or Google Play account first. The app shows you how before you delete.
- Apple and Google keep their own records of your purchases.
- Analytics and crash data, which are not tied to your account, expire as described in section 7.
- Server logs, backups, and the copies Anthropic keeps for abuse monitoring expire as described in section 7.
- Emails you sent us, unless you ask us to delete them, and anything we must keep by law.
- Data stored on your phone stays there until you uninstall the app or clear its data.
Deleting a pet (in Your pets, through "⋯") deletes that pet's chart, photo, logs, notes, readings, plans and Ask Vela history.
9. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- access your data and get a copy of it (Art. 15);
- correct it (Art. 16). Most of it you can edit in the app;
- delete it (Art. 17), see section 8;
- restrict how we use it (Art. 18);
- take it with you in a machine-readable format (Art. 20);
- object to processing based on our legitimate interests (Art. 21);
- withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on it (Art. 7(3));
- complain to a data protection authority (Art. 77). In Poland this is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (Prezes Urzędu Ochrony Danych Osobowych, ul. Stawki 2, 00-193 Warszawa, uodo.gov.pl). You can also complain in the EU country where you live or work.
Export: Settings > Export my data gives you a JSON file with your account email, your profile, your pets with their charts, your logs and your stats. For a complete copy, including your Ask Vela history, cards, plans and referral and gift records, email privacy@aetris.app.
How to ask: email privacy@aetris.app. We answer within one month. If a request is complex we may extend this by up to two more months and will tell you why. We may ask you to write from the email address of your account so we know it is you. Exercising your rights is free.
10. Your choices
- Analytics: switch them off in Settings > Privacy & data > Usage analytics. The app then stops sending usage data to Firebase on that phone.
- Notifications: switch them off in Settings or in your phone's settings.
- Photos: the app reads only the photo you pick. You can change photo access in your phone's settings.
- Advertising ID (Android): you can reset or delete it in your phone's Google settings.
- Objecting: to object to any other processing based on our legitimate interests, email privacy@aetris.app.
11. Security
- Data travels encrypted (HTTPS/TLS).
- Each account can read only its own data; many tables can be changed only by our server.
- Your sign-in session is kept in your phone's secure storage; passwords are stored only as hashes.
- Access to the production systems is limited to Aetris Admin.
- Our server limits how many requests, and how many AI requests, can be made in a given time.
- If a data breach puts your rights at risk, we will tell the authority and, where required, you (Art. 33 and 34 GDPR).
No system is perfectly secure. Use a strong password if you sign in with email, and keep your phone locked.
12. Age
Aetris is for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to use it. The app is not directed at children. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will delete it.
13. Automated decisions
We do not make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects based only on automated processing (Art. 22 GDPR). Forecasts, scores and readings are generated automatically, for entertainment.
14. Do you have to give us your data?
An email address (directly or through Google or Apple) is needed to create an account, because the app keeps your data on your account. Everything else is optional, but some features don't work without it: for example, your horoscope needs your date of birth and Ask Vela needs your pet's Soul Reading.
15. The aetris.app website
- We measure visits and clicks to the app stores with Google Analytics 4, only if you accept analytics cookies in the cookie banner. Advertising features and Google signals are switched off. Basis: consent. To change your choice, clear the cookies of aetris.app in your browser and the banner will ask again.
- Without your consent we set no analytics cookies.
- Email sign-ups. If you leave your email address in a form on the website (for example "Notify me" for the iPhone app), we use it only for what that form says, for example to tell you when Aetris is available on iPhone. The emails are sent through Loops (section 4). Basis: consent. Every email has an unsubscribe link; after you unsubscribe we keep your address only on a do-not-email list, so you are not emailed again. This is separate from your Aetris account: signing up in the app does not add you to these emails.
- The website is run by a hosting provider, which processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver the pages.
16. Changes to this policy
When we change this policy we update the date at the top. If a change matters for you, we will also tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Previous versions are available on request at privacy@aetris.app.
